ATHLETIC SPECIALIZATION
Can’t imagine attending college without continuing your sport but want to prioritize academic rigor in your college expereince?
Lauran’s the counselor for you!
Williamson College Prep is uniquely positioned to assist students seekING competitive collegiate athletic participation without sacrificing academic rigor.
Many families think being a college athlete means putting the academic experience in second place. That doesn’t have to be the case!
My clients seek a balanced academic/athletic college experience. Many of my clients are student-athletes who could be recruited DI but choose to pursue DIII schools to obtain greater balance. They are high school athletes who think DIII is the right choice for them but are contemplating their athletic continuation. And, they are high school student-athletes who have never thought about playing collegiate sports but couldn’t imagine their current life without their sport.
As a DIII recruited swimmer, I experienced the athletic recruiting process first-hand. Then, as a swim coach for the Harvard Women’s Swimming and Diving team, I coordinated official recruiting visits. Finally, as a coach for Culver Academies and East High School, I helped high school student-athletes understand the landscape of college athletics. Now, as the wife of a lefty pitcher who went to spring training with the Oakland A’s, the values our family takes from athletic experiences are what I share with my students and encourage them to continue to build through college.
Obviously, because of my experience as a swimmer, I flip (turn) at a chance to work with swimmers. But, I’ve also worked with many other athletes in individual and team sports, including:
Baseball
Cross-country
Field hockey
Lacrosse
Soccer
Softball
Swimming & Diving
Track & field
Tennis
Volleyball

Lauran’s childhood was enriched so much by sports that she considered a major in Sports Media.
In that time, she interned at the NBA (National Basketball Association) and worked at the Assignment Desk — including walking Chris Paul from the stage when he was drafted to his first official professional photo (THIS ONE!).
